Strategic Affairs and Information Minister Gilad Erdan has presented a report prepared by his ministry, linking at least 30 Hamas, PFLP terrorists who were formerly convicted of murder and terrorism, working now in at least 13 anti-Israel BDS NGOs.
The report, called “Terrorists in Suits”, points to a web of global interconnections between BDS and terror groups. More than 100 connections were identified including joint campaigns, manpower and financial assistance.
The recent study found 30 Muslim terrorists, 20 of whom were in prison and some of them murderers and senior terrorists, with senior positions in BDS organizations.
The report states that Israeli courts have labeled some of the ‘activists’ as posing a significant danger to the public. It further noted that terror organizations view BDS as an additional tactic to be used for the destruction of Israel and that the civil organizations serve as an incubator for their activities.
The BDS organizations listed in the report receive millions of Euros in funding from European countries and philanthropic foundations. They also receive access to banking and financial services.
Minister Erdan said that he expects that after the exposure of ties between pro-boycott groups and terror groups, the European Union and states which finance these groups will rethink their paths regarding the legitimization and financing they provide for BDS.
Some of the examples in the report include Leila Khaled, a PFLP jihadist who participated in the TWA Flight 840 hijacking in 1969 and one of the four simultaneous Dawson’s Field hijackings the following year as part of the campaign of Black September in Jordan.
She was later released in exchange for civilian hostages kidnapped by her fellow PFLP terrorists and she is now involved in promoting BDS in the United States.
Another example is Rasmea Yousef Odeh, sentenced to life in prison in Israel for a 1969 supermarket bombing that killed two people in Jerusalem. She spent 10 years in prison and she was released in an exchange with the PFLP. In 2014 she was convicted of immigration fraud by a US federal jury.
There is also an example from Hamas in the report. Muhammad Sawalha, a member of the armed wing of Hamas, who in recent years is part of its political bureau and representation in Britain.
Sawalha established and headed several civil society groups that support BDS and was a key figure in planning the Mavi Marmara flotilla of Muslim terrorists in 2010.
