At least 50 people were killed and 80 wounded in a powerful explosion that targeted a wedding hall with top religious figures in Afghanistan’s capital, Kabul.
According to reports, the attack was carried out by a suicide bomber.
The death toll was expected to rise.
The Muslim terrorist hit an Ulema Council gathering at a large wedding hall where hundreds of scholars and clerics marked the prophet Muhammad’s birthday, Najib Danish, interior ministry spokesperson, said.
Dozens of ambulances rushed to the site of the blast, according to videos posted on Twitter.
