The UN Human Rights Council is “reaching new heights of hypocrisy and lies out of obsessive hatred toward Israel, the only democracy in the Middle East,” Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu says, responding to a probe that said IDF troops may have committed crimes against humanity in the response to weekly Gaza border riots organized by the Hamas terror group.
“Hamas is the one shooting rockets at Israeli civilians, hurling explosives and conducting terror activities during the violent demonstrations on the border fence. Israel will not allow Hamas to attack its sovereignty and people and will maintain the right of self-defense”.
“The IDF will continue to vigorously defend Israeli citizens against attack by Hamas and the other terrorist organizations financed by Iran, which declares its intention to destroy Israel”, PM Netanyahu added.
Israeli security forces may have committed “war crimes” and “crimes against humanity” in eliminating 189 Muslim terrorists and wounding more than 6,100 at weekly riots along the security border fence with Gaza last year, United Nations investigators said on Thursday.
The UN report, which examined Israeli soldiers’ actions in response to riots and terrorism in Gaza, said they had found ‘reasonable grounds’ to believe snipers knowingly shot at ‘journalists, health workers, children and persons with disabilities’.
